Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who runs this blog?
I do! My name is Rob Steenwyk and I am the owner and primary author of the Bud Boy Tech blog. Check out the About page for some more information.
  2. Do you make any money off this blog?
The possibility is there : ). I am utilizing contextual advertising to hopefully eventually break even on my hosting costs, this blog is no huge money maker for me.
  3. Why is my email address required to make a comment?
Requiring an email address helps cut down on comment spam. Comment spam isn't fun, and I want to avoid it at all costs. Your email address is not stored in the system, and I will never send you an email if you decide to make a comment. I hate spam in all forms, so you don't have to worry about getting any from me.
  4. Do you remove comments?
Yes. I love hearing feedback from my readers about the stories I post, and I want to foster a solid community of people that regularly read and post on the site. This means that posts that do nothing but mock or poke fun at others will be removed. This includes posts directed towards myself or other authors, if you think something that is on the site is stupid or innacurate, please let us know in the comments but make sure to keep it constructive.

Comment spam will be removed immediately, no questions asked. Spam means that you are not contributing anything at all to the conversation and are merely trying to get people to click on your links. If you think a post on another blog is relevant to the discussion, by all means post it!

Overall, just be nice and your comment won't be removed : )
  5. What's up with the old news?
I, and other authors, do our best to talk about topics that are relatively recent and relevant to the tech community at large. However, sometimes we come across something that we think is really cool that we have not heard of before. You may have heard of it a long time ago, but many of our readers have not.
  6. How can I talk to you?
You can send me an email from the contact page
  7. I have an article I'd like to write for Bud Boy Tech, will you post it?
I am always looking for more content! If you think you can write an article that would fit in well with the rest of the site, please get in contact with me. Just remember that this blog is all about, "hints, tips, reviews and information on all things technology." I am not yet reimbursing people for posts, as I am not making any money myself. However, you will get a link back to your blog or website of choice.

If you are interested, just send me an email from the contact page and let me know what you want to write about and I will let you know if I think it will work. The article does need to be published here first and I reserve the right to keep it published on the site indefinitely and resell it. However, after the article has been published you are also free to publish it elsewhere or resell it yourself.
  8. Can I ask you a technical question?
You can certainly ask by writing to me via the contact page, but I give no guarantees that I will be able to reply to your email. You would be amazed at how many technical questions I receive, even though this is just a small blog. Remember that if I do write back that I have no contractual or financial obligation to you. My advice is free, and if I tell you something that ends up screwing up your PC or other piece of equipment, I am not at fault.
  9. Can I use your content on my website?
All the articles that I write on this site are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 3.0 license. Basically, that means that you can copy every bit of my text and put it on your website, as long as somewhere on the page you give a link back to Bud Boy Tech.
